Whether a door is opened or closed, door sensors can be used for security reasons, to make sure no one enters unnoticed. At the same time, these smart sensors can be applied in other situations. For example to prevent doors from staying open too long in temperature-controlled work spaces. They can also support smart home and building systems.
When nothing happens with the sensor, the device will send data at a set interval, e.g. every two hours or every day. Once the sensor is activated (by opening the door or window it is attached to) it will send data including when and how long it was open. The door sensor can also send an alarm if the door has been open for a certain time. Data are collected in your dashboard or internal systems for research and analysis.
The LoRaWAN network makes it easy to collect data over long distances. It makes no difference whether your sensors are placed next to you, or at a location far away.
Sensors and other devices (the Things in the Internet of Things or IoT) will transmit data over a Long Range (LoRa) network using a Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN). It sounds complicated, but means you'll have full control over your data.
Simply put, small data packages are transmitted over a long-distance WiFi network. The sensors are battery-operated and use very little energy, so they can operate a long time, often for many years.
